pictures of you

Francisco Goya, Witches in Flight, 1798

pictures of you

i have a memory box

filled with little mementos, souvenirs, and trinkets

it is messy (mixed-up and unsorted)

it is torn

understand that it has always been delicate

i wear a mask

piano black: playing a melancholic melody

he sets me free

but i wear the mask once more

to wait for you

a pristine white rose pinned against your heart

you ask me to dance the waltz

parading through

and decide to not change partners mid-song

realize that i’m only cinderella in a reverie

i talk to the picture of us

i say to myself: you are happy with him

i ask you: are you?

but i hear nothing

sweet silence (you just smile)

i have a memory box

filled with little mementos, souvenirs, and trinkets

it is messy (mixed-up and unsorted)

i have a memory box

it is my heart

and i want to fill it with pictures of you
